Albertsons, Instacart provide online Mother’s Day hubs
A major grocer and a leading grocery technology company are both offering online shoppers a dedicated destination to buy gifts for Mom.
Mother’s Day is coming Monday, May 11, and the National Retail Federation estimates spending on the holiday will rise year-over-year to reach $34.1 billion. Amazon has been running an online Mother’s Day Shop, and now Albertsons and Instacart are also launching online hubs dedicated to the women who gave us all life.

Details of each online Mother’s Day offering follow:
Albertsons
Albertsons Companies Inc. is offering items such as fresh flowers, treats, self-care items, greeting cards and more all in one place. Using the Albertsons banner app, customers can send these gifts to their loved ones’ doorstep with the retailer’s all-new gifting feature or choose to pick up the items at any Albertsons. Store brands including Albertsons, Safeway, Acme, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, Vons and Tom Thumb.
New this year, customers shopping for Mother’s Day or any other occasion can send gifts to their loved ones by selecting the delivery option and choosing “make this order a gift” when using the Albertsons Cos. banner app. This new feature also allows shoppers to include a gift message.
In addition, Albertsons offers flexible delivery options, including flash delivery and pickup within 30 minutes, for any last-minute gifting needs.

Instacart
Instacart shoppers can use the company’s Mother’s Day Gifting Hub and “make this order a gift” option to easily find and ship holiday-themed items such as fresh-cut flowers, brunch ingredients, self-care products and treats.
Customers will be prompted to enter the Mother’s Day gift recipient’s name and phone number, pick a digital card image, and add a personal message. Once the customer places the order, Instacart sends a notification to the recipient, allowing them to schedule delivery for a convenient time, view their special message and track the gift’s arrival, in as fast as 30 minutes.
Instacart is promoting its Mother’s Day hub via its email, social and digital channels, in-store signage and weekly print ads, featuring images of florals, treats and other gift options with the tagline, “Make Mom’s Day.”
In addition, in honor of Mother’s Day, Instacart is running a special promotion where new parents can sign up to receive three free months of the paid Instacart+ subscription service (typically $9.99 per month) and receive an email to claim the offer.
